#NaBloPoMo - I Feel Excited
Last July, I had to put down my best friend of nearly 13 years; my dog, Beamer. For 12 days, I walked around the house talking to him like he was still there - did NOT mind being the crazy dog lady; but NO desire to be the crazy lady. I knew I was going to get a cat; was just letting myself heal a bit before I did. On July 30, I got up and decided to go "look" at cats. Didn't take the carrier I had, because I was just going to "look", right? Rookie mistake.
After spending time in each of the rooms (they had them divided by age, declawed, etc), and not finding "The One"; I was ready to leave. As I was heading out, my path crossed with the guy in charge of the cat portion of the rescue. I told him I was looking for a cat that: 1-"Needed me". 2-Could be an only cat. 3-Had been looking at all the black ones, because I was born on Friday the 13th. 4-Wanted an older cat.
He told me he thought he knew just the cat - they called her Spicy. sounds innocent enough, right??! She was 13 months old. He took me to where she had been "living" - in the hallway, because she didn't play well with others. I picked her up, and there was an instant connection. I scratched above her tail, where MOST animals I had come in contact with, loved. Not her - she bit me. Still, she needed me, and the connection was there. I renamed her Motion, and took her home.
In the last 9 months, I have learned a plethora of things about felines; and #1 is they are DEFINITELY NOT DOGS!!! Ha, ha!!! I have worked with victims of abuse for years - but they share their stories with me and we work together to help them. Motion, I've had to learn through a lot of trial and error; and bleeding - she's a biter - SURPRISE!!! Not!!!
Now, to the excited part - her belly has been off-limits, until this week. this is my excitement - I can now rub her belly!!! That is what the picture is; one of the first times I did for longer than a second and she didn't bite me!!! Woohoo!!!
Have a good day, and be safe...
