Approaching September 11, Again...
As we approach the 15th Anniversary of September 11, 2001; I have been reflecting a lot on the things that took place that day. I know I'm not alone in this.
However, this date has always been significant to me. My parents were wed September 11, 1948. My father used to tell the story about talking to a local college student post-9/11, and when the kid found out his wedding anniversary was that date he said, "Why did you pick THAT date??!" My fatherly quickly responded, "Well, in 1948, it was just a regular day." Yes, ladies and gentlemen, our future generation...lol. But I digress...lol.
I also made that date Beamer's Birthdate. When I got him two days after I turned 40, October 15, 2001, the vet said he was between 4-6 weeks old. I looked at a calendar, and said, "Why not??!" He was my living tribute to the Heroes of 9/11. He was my first-born, and will be forever in my heart.
So now, fifteen years later, where am I? Still remembering this date, and #NEVER4GET-ting the demonstrations of bravery and solidarity that were shown to EVERYONE on that date, and for a long time after. I am saddened by the state of my country, today. People have forgotten that we are all one people. The solution is so simple, but maybe I'm just too naive to believe it could really happen. ONE. PEOPLE.
I just know I have to continue "doing MY part" every day. Sharing myself, and the "essence that is me" with those immediately around me, still believing one person can change the world; it's a ripple effect.
What can you do, especially at this time in our country's existence? How can you change the world around you? If we ALL do this, "Oh, the places we'll go!!!" (Love me some "Seussical"!!!) ;)
I will be cross-posting this on my Memories of 9/11/01 page on Facebook, @memoriesof91101. Please feel free to go there, and leave your memory of that date, using the hashtag #WWUon91101 . Thank you...
Have a good day, and be safe... #NEVER4GET
